ALAMOSA– A white male, James Marshall of Alamosa, 27, was arrested at a home in east Alamosa Thursday night following a shooting in downtown Alamosa just before 6 p.m. possibly related to recent protests according to the Alamosa Police Department.

According to Joey Spangler, Alamosa Police Department captain, victim Danny Pruitt, 49, was located at 2nd St. and Richardson Ave. in a vehicle with a small caliber gunshot wound to the back of the head. The victim was initially treated at San Luis Valley Health and later flown to UCHealth Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs for further treatment.

Pruitt was believed to be a passerby through a protest at the corner of Main and State Avenue at the time of the shooting. Spangler said Pruitt’s address is listed as Canon City but may have been currently living in Fort Garland. Charges against Marshall were not yet known.

A Valley Courier reporter may have gotten a picture of the suspect and the SIMM card from her camera was copied by APD.
