It is quite apparent when we travel we go through some kind of security. Yet somehow we struggle with feeling secure.
In the Bible people were looking for a Messiah, searching for a savior, and they expected Jesus to come into Jerusalem and clean house. They thought they had the solution. He had fed the people. He had healed the sick. He had raised the dead. The people were hoping someone would bring change.
If Jesus showed up today, I think we might expect the same things. Jesus could end war, poverty, and homelessness. He could eliminate stress, debt, divorce and dead end jobs. He could eliminate family conflicts, fears and famine. He could set the world in order. But what He did back then was come to town on a donkey, go to the cross and sacrifice His life for us so that we could be transformed.
We are still seeking peace in our world. It is in the news everyday. There is not a person in this world that can give us real peace and security. The peace that we are looking for doesn’t come from any groups, religions, or laws. Our security only comes through Jesus. It is about letting Jesus change. Then He will change your situation, then He will change your family, then He will change the community, then He will change this world.
He gives you the hope of resurrection from the dead and eternal life. Through His Holy Spirit. He wants to change your life. The core purpose is spiritual transformation of individuals, families, communities, and the world for the glory of
Jesus Christ. The name Lazarus from the Bible is a Greek baby name. The meaning of the name Lazarus is: God is my help. In the Bible, Lazarus was brother to Mary and Martha and was raised from the dead after four days.
This is a phenomenal moment right here in scripture. Though Lazarus was dead he heard Jesus speak and jumped up off the slab of cold earth and came to life. If Lazarus can be dead and hear God’s word how much more should God’s word speak to those that are living? The way we change is by the engrained en-grafted word of God.
You can’t live in victory over a problem until you are en-grafted in God’s word. The power of God’s words raises people from the dead. God’s words will raise you up and out of the drudgery of everyday life. In Jesus Christ there is real security.
People shout praises, raise their hands, speak in tongues, we could even hang from the chandeliers, sing songs with such beauty you would think it was an angel. We can sit in church for 40 years and never have the word in our heart.
We can go through all the religion, routines and rhetoric, look real good on the outside, but never have relationship.
Let’s not kid ourselves. We can go to the same house and see the same people every night for 40 years and go through the same routines and not have a relationship. We could even be married and not have relationship. Just going to church or going to a house doesn’t mean you have relationship with someone in it.
Change is the greatest service you can give God’s word. It isn’t lip service or a church service. If there is no change after five, 10, or 20 years something is wrong. Ask God for help to put His word in your Spirit. The way we change is by God’s help. We can’t raise ourselves from the dead. Only God can do that.
Every time you here the name Jesus as He is called in the Holy Bible “the Son of God,” the one anointed of God, who came to guide the people let’s start looking to the Messiah instead of a common man or woman to bring us security.
Let’s pray instead for Jesus to bring us security.
John 3:16-17(NIV) 16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.
