Scott Robert Brownlow

Albuquerque, N.M., resident Scott Brownlow passed away on Saturday, April 13, 2024, from cancer. He was born on Saturday, Aug. 6, 1983, in Monte Vista, Colo. He was a longtime resident of the San Luis Valley, Colo. He was the son of Robert Brownlow and Cristie Brown Taffin.

After graduating from Sangre de Cristo High School in Mosca, Colo., he attended and graduated from Adams State College in Alamosa, Colo. He continued on to receive his Master’s at the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology in Socorro, N.M.

Scott married Joyce in 2003 and before separating they had five children: Elizabeth (Lizzy), Zachary (Zee), Nicholas, Joseph and Wesley.

After earning his Master’s degree, Scott worked for the U.S. Forest Service up until his passing. Scott started as an IT Project Manager, a role he excelled at, leading many efforts to modernize the IT infrastructure. Throughout his career, Scott worked his way to Chief Information Office collaboration specialist with expertise in Microsoft SharePoint and Teams. Scott supported countless site owners through upgrades and migrations through the Microsoft User Group call, an initiative he spearheaded. Scott’s commitment to service was also shown by his support to Fire and Aviation management; he served as a liaison between the ASC-CIO and local dispatch units during wildfire incidents. His leadership was instrumental in shaping policies nationwide for incident technology support. His legacy and his commitment to excellence will live on.

Scott’s biggest joys in life were his children, computers, and his involvement in wildfire incident management. He took great pride in building each of his children their own desktop for gaming. He also enjoyed modifying his Tesla Model Y to be able to share his love of nature and the outdoors with his children, taking them on many camping trips in recent years. Scott’s love of nature was clearly on display with his love for plants, propagating many different types to the max capacity of the area available to him.

Scott is survived by his five children, mother Cristie Brown Taffin (Mark Taffin), father Robert Brownlow (Melissa Brownlow), sisters Dawnia Smith, and Liz Robinson, two stepsisters, two stepbrothers, one aunt, seven uncles, and numerous cousins and friends.

Scott was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Art and Thurmma Brown and his paternal grandparents Lonnie and Patricia Brownlow.
