Sargent School Teacher and Employee of the Year

Jen Kimberling is Sargent’s Teacher of the Year --  She began teaching at Sargent Elementary in 1996 Kimberling has taught both music and elementary education classes during her 23 years at Sargent and specializes in teaching kindergarten.  She not only educates her students, she anticipates their needs, guiding them to academic success while caring for the “whole child.” Kimberling goes the extra mile for her students, providing older student mentors, and making learning fun and engaging.  In addition to caring for her kindergartners, Kimberling cares for her peers as well through serving as President of the school’s Sunshine Committee.  She was selected for the Teacher of the Year honor by her peers and fellow teachers, who recognize her as an excellent educator and a positive inspiration and leader outside of the classroom.

Dennis Santistevan is the Employee of the Year. Santistevan is a member of the custodial/maintenance staff, and was selected by his Sargent support staff peers.  Santistevan is someone who can always be counted on to help where needed, and will cheerfully drop what he is doing to help out.  He is appreciated by students as well as his fellow staff members—evidence of their appreciation was apparent as he received a standing ovation when his award was presented.  It is with much appreciation that Sargent School District recognizes Santistevan’s outstanding work and dedication.
