Sangre de Cristo Heritage Center seeks summer volunteers

VALLEY — The Sangre de Cristo Heritage Center will once again open this summer with limited hours. Starting with Memorial Day weekend, the museum portion will open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The museum will stay open until Labor Day.

The SDCHC is looking for a few dedicated individuals who are willing to volunteer as museum associates/ambassadors. Volunteers must possess excellent customer service skills and have some knowledge of the local history and customs. This is a good opportunity for retired persons and mature students who are on summer vacation. Meeting people who come to visit from different parts of the country and within the San Luis Valley can be a rewarding experience in itself.

Ideally, a volunteer would be willing to work an entire day during the scheduled hours at the museum. Also, it would be good to have a team of two people for each day. If this is something that interests you, please contact the Sangre de Cristo Heritage Center at 719-672-0999 and leave a message for Rick Manzanares, with your name and phone number. Training will be provided for the group of volunteers.
