Sangre de Cristo FFA member receives SAE breeding grant

DENVER---Colby Harris of the Sangre de Cristo FFA chapter received a grant in the amount of $750 from the Colorado FFA Foundation to establish and improve a livestock style Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) program. The grant funds will be used to purchase a breeding sow of the FFA members choosing. 

The grant was presented on January 17th as a part of “FFA Day” at the National Western Stock Show and Rodeo. Along with the funds, Colby was also introduced the grant sponsor, Erica Osborn from Animal Health International. Harris and Osborn will communicate for the next 12 months, tracking the progress of the project. Colby was one of 47 students statewide receiving grant funds this year. Sangre de Cristo’s agriculture education instructor and FFA advisor is Matt Sinclair.

FFA is an integral part of the Agricultural Education Division within the Colorado community College System. The Colorado FFA Association currently has enrollment of over 6,400 members and 112 chapters.
