Saguache Sagebrush Quilters to meet April 29

SAGUACHE — Calling all quilters to gather on Saturday, April 29 at 10 a.m. in the Community Room of the Saguache County Road and Bridge building at 305 5th Street, Saguache.

This is also the day of the annual Health Fair at the Mountain Valley School gymnasium so consider the drive to Saguache a “two-fer”.

April Project time: With the local health fair, there will only be five tables for everyone to share space on. This meeting is also the time that we change out the quilt display that the public enjoys seeing. There are seven spaces to change out. Contact Lynn Ertle at 719-580-9146.

All also are welcome to bring their own project to work on that day.

The Dutchman’s puzzle block that the group is learning and creating for the Fall Festival 2018 quilt top, is available for everyone’s sewing pleasure – the fabric and instructions are provided. It is a design from the 1880s and the process taught provides a simple way to create flying geese units. Two ironing boards and irons will be provided for pressing needs.

Mary Robbins will show a sample and a listing of yardage and supplies needed to learn how to create the design called Mariner’s Compass. This will be the project for May’s meeting.

BRING: quilts to display, personal projects, sewing machine, sewing basket, extension cords, a potluck dish to share, projects that to show during “Sew ‘n Tell” time, and any questions about quilting.

Saguache Sagebrush Quilters is a grassroots group bringing together people who enjoy fabric and learning about this Americana heritage skill. All levels of sewing skills are welcome. Questions? Concerns? Contact Lynn Ertle at 719-580-9146 or email:  [email protected]
