Sacred Heart Bazaar Windfall

Monsignor Leo Gomez was born and raised in northern New Mexico. He attended seminary in Conception Missouri and was ordained in 1963 in Gallup, New Mexico. Two of his classmates were Bishop Arthur Tafoya and Father Bill Gleason, familiar names to the San Luis Valley. His early assignments were in Arizona and was installed as Monsignor in 1973.

One of his great memories was that as Vicar General for the Diocese of Gallup he was asked to accompany Mother Theresa of Calcutta on her weeklong tour of Native American Pueblos and Reservations. He also did missionary work in Mexico and El Salvador.

With retirement and advancing age he chose to move back to the family home in Dulce, New Mexico. That required downsizing, so he parted with many beautiful treasures collected through the years. He knew that his niece, Leola Luchetti of Alamosa had worked many years on the Sacred Heart Church Bazaar. He gifted his beautiful collection to their worthy cause, the restoration and preservation of the church buildings.

This is your opportunity to own or gift some very unique items. The Bazaar is this weekend Fri Dec 3rd from 9-7 and Sat Dec 4th from 8-2. Masks are required.
