Roy D Ratzlaff (aka Sarge), 81, passed away March 20, 2017 at the Colorado State Veterans Center at Homelake, Colorado. He was born April 4, 1935 in Las Animas, Co to Roy I. and Hazel King Ratzlaff. Roy served in the US Army for 21 years. He married Doris Hazen on January 6, 1957 in Holly,Co and they raised three children together.

Roy was an experienced horse trainer specializing in Tennessee Walkers and loved his work. He was an outdoors man and a Broncos fan. He and Doris enjoyed square dancing and were members of the High Valley Swingers and the Monarch Mavericks Dancing Club. He taught square dancing for over 30 years.  He was an active member of the Gateway Baptist Church. His greatest pleasure was spending time with family, especially the grandchildren.

Roy is survived by his loving wife Doris, sons Roy Jr (Vicki) Ratzlaff,  and Tyler (Bonnie) Ratzlaff all of Monte Vista, CO and Tracy (Elizabeth) Ratzlaff of Las Vegas, NM., brother LaVern (Dorothy) Ratzlaff of Las Vegas, NV, sister Nettie Taylor of Longmont, CO. grandchildren Justin (Sara) Ratzlaff, Kathy (Kevin) Garcia, Matthew (Christina) Ratzlaff, Adam Ratzlaff, Casie (Ben) Dellenbach, Benjaming Ratzlaff and Jacob Ratzlaff.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Elgie King and Roger Ratzlaff.
