Ronald “Butcher” Longchamps, 75

Manassa resident Ronald “Butcher” Longchamps, 75, passed away at his home June 20, 2017 after a long illness.

Butcher was born November 27, 1941 in Hawthorne California to Lawrence Butcher & Lillian Hines.  He was raised by his mother & his step-father Philippe Longchamps, whose name he took in 1976.   As a teenager he hitchhiked from California with a friend who had family in Manassa.  He attended Manassa High School and served in the United States Army, stationed in Germany.

Butcher worked as a turquoise cutter until his retirement and was known to cut the most beautiful stones.

He was an avid Arrowhead hunter, Hunter & Fisherman.  He loved being in the mountains and spending time with his family.

His Parents, Sister Carol Johnson; and both his sons Michael Butcher Martinez and Jason Longchamps preceded him in death.

He is survived by his daughter Sandy Butcher Martinez of Alamosa, Grandchildren Christian (John Sandoval) of Hollywood California, Nina & Kyle Crawford, Dusty Harmsen, Chance Harmsen & Lais Harmsen all of Alamosa.  His Niece’s Lori Cleverley, Debi Johnson, Nephew Rich Johnson & Special Cousin Sally Gillette.
