Rocky needs a home

Rocky is a big, mushy guy who weighs about 65 lbs. He is great with people and gets along best with female dogs. He protects his food dish so he might be best as an only dog. Neutered, current on all vaccinations, about 2 years old. He came in as a stray, abandoned at a gravel pit. Not good with little dogs. He was evaluated by Jill Haffley, a trainer in Colorado Springs. She says he needs a dominant person who will let him know he is under his/her control. She said he is a nice dog and very adoptable to the right person. One Saturday at a Petco adoption event, Rocky got pretty bored in his kennel and made himself a poncho. He had a blanket under him. He tore a hole in it and poked his head through. A sweetheart: Aileen had an old hoodie, which she hadn’t washed before she gave it to Rocky. She thought he might have a great time shredding it. Rocky did not. He spread it out under him to lie on and never shredded it. He must have smelled the human scent and wanted to be with Aileen. He would be a great hiking, running partner. He might even pull a sled. His adoption fee is $75. Contact SLV Animal Welfare Society at 719-587-woof (9663) or www.slvaws.org
