Robert Harold “Fred” Frederick, 74

Robert Harold “Fred” Frederick, 74, passed away on December 25, 2017.  He was born in Akron, Ohio on September 9, 1943 to Gerald and Zella Frederick. 

Fred spent the first four years of his life in Akron, Ohio and the next fourteen years in Cleveland.  He joined the United States Navy Seabees as a heavy-duty construction mechanic and he served in many distant lands.  After leaving the military, he worked for many years as a diesel mechanic in California.  Fred moved to Denver and started his own business, Action Turbos.  He sold his business to spend the next few years in and out of Antarctica.  He loved drag racing, water skiing, barefooting and joking around with all his friends and family.

He is survived by his wife Charlotte, daughter, Teri (John DeOliver) Derington, grandchildren, Cody (Katie) Derington, Megan (Sean) Boyer as well as one great grandchild, Riley Boyer and a sister, Janice Wadley.

Fred was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Barbara Tench.

A wake will be held to celebrate his life at the home of Lewis and Melissa Hart, 2631 North Highway 285, Monte Vista beginning at 5:30 p.m. on Friday evening, December 29, 2017.  A potluck meal will take place and all are welcome to attend.  A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday December 30, 2017 at the Rogers Family Mortuary in Alamosa.  Cremation will follow services.  Contributions are suggested to the United Services Organization (USO) and may be made in care of the funeral home office.  To express condolences, please visit www.rogersfunerals.com
