Robert Duran, 52

LA JARA — Ortiz resident Robert Duran,52, passed away peacefully March 18, at the San Luis Valley Regional Medical Center with his loving family by his side.
Robert was born on April 14, 1967, in La Jara, the son of Albert P. Duran and Rufinita Duran. Robert worked for Red Hill Lava as a heavy equipment operator for many years.
In his free time, he enjoyed ranching, farming, being in the mountains and listening to music. Robert was an avid sports fan and enjoyed the time he was able to spend with family and friends.
Survivors include: his loving wife, Joanne Duran; daughter, Rheanna Duran (Joshua Duran) ; son, Johnathon Duran (Megan Smith); the light of his life, his grandson Brayden Duran, all of Ortiz; mother-in-law, Arlene Sisneros of Antonito; sister, Gina (Ernest) Mathews of Texas City; special aunt, Leah Duran of Alamosa; brothers-in-law, Estevan (Rachel) Sisneros of Albuquerque and Ernie Sisneros of Grand Junction. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Rufinita Duran; brother, Paul Duran; father-in-law, Ernie Sisneros and brother-in-law, Ronald Ruybal.
A small private family Mass of the Resurrection will be held Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Conejos. Interment will follow at the Ortiz Cemetery.
