Rio Grande Rattlers mountain biking update

ALAMOSA — The San Luis Valley Rattlers High School Mountain Bike Team continues to have a successful season this year.  Seven riders are racing toward the end of the season and hoping to secure a position at the state championship race in Durango October 20th-21st.  The team is composed of the following riders: Devin Arellano, Alamosa High School Senior; Kristin David, Sargent High School Junior; Marian Kidd, Sargent High School Sophomore; Cameron Roberts, Home-Schooled Sophomore; Landon Tolsma, Monte Vista High School Sophomore; and Sebastian Steffens, Del Norte Freshman.  Coaches include: Brian Stevenson, head coach; Larry Roberts, team director; Kathy & Terry Daley; Mark Skinner; Paul Steward, Mark Loy, and Erik Suttles, team mechanic.
    

The team completes the regular season on October 6th in Eagle Colorado.  Currently the team sits in 6th place in the “C” division which is composed of teams composed of 12 riders or less.  Cameron Roberts is currently in 8th place in the JV Boys category along with Devin Arellano sitting in 58th place. Kristin David sits in 24th place for the JV girls. Marian Kidd remains in 28th place in the Sophomore girls category.  Landon  Tolsma is in 122nd place in the Sophomore boys and Freshman Sebastian Steffens rides strong in 54th place.
  

 The Rattlers encourage riders of any age to sign up for the 12 Hours of Penitence Mountain Bike Race on Saturday October 13h.  Proceeds from this event support Youth on Bikes including the Rattlers Team.
