Rio Bravo RV resort land swap on city agenda

ALAMOSA — The Alamosa City Council has an agenda item scheduled for the April 18th regular council meeting at 7 p.m. at city hall regarding a potential land swap with Rio Bravo RV Resort.

The potential RV resort development was discussed during a work session on January 24th, a regular session on February 21st, and a special meeting on February 28th. At the February 28th public meeting, a group of residents presented alternatives to the original proposal that involved a swap of land rather than the purchase of ranch property. Through a show of hands, it was clear that the alternatives were far preferred over the original proposal. Following the meeting, city council entered into executive session and provided direction to staff to have conversations with Rio Bravo about the alternatives that were presented.

The item that will be on the April 18th agenda is a public hearing and motion to authorize the city manager to sign an agreement to exchange land with Rio Bravo RV Resort.

The city recognizes that many residents are following this potential project closely and hold strong opinions. Additional information can be found on the city’s website or by reviewing the agenda packet under the “News & Events” tab at www.cityofalamosa.org. The city is maintaining the webpage dedicated to this information that also includes a tool to submit comments. All comments will be shared with city council.
