Richard “Tayo” Sanchez

Antonito resident Richard “Tayo” Sanchez, 78 passed away on October 2, 2021 at Longmont United Hospital with his loving family by his side.  Richard was born October 15, 1942 in San Antonio, Colorado, the son of Ricardo and Teresina Sanchez.  Richard was united in marriage to the love of his life Natividad Gonzales on August 17, 1964. They shared a long and loving union until his passing.  An exceptional and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend, he enjoyed watching westerns, fishing, camping, working on his ranch and on occasion, going gambling.  He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus and was also devoted to his faith as a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.  His greatest joy in life came from the time he was able to spend with his family. 

He will live on through his wife Natie Sanchez of Antonito, CO, Daughters Jackie (Marvin) Martinez of San Antonio, CO, Amy (Jeremy) Romero of Antonito, CO, Monica (Glen) DeHerrera of Romeo, CO, Lillian (Jakie) Trujillo of Antonito, CO, Sons Nathan (Desiree) Pacheco of Alamosa, CO and Dustin(Bonnie) Pacheco of Antonito, CO.  He is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

He preceded in death by his beloved children, Ricky Sanchez, Judy Ann Pacheco and Sharon Sanchez-Medina, son in law Abel Medina and also by his parents Ricardo and Teresina Sanchez, Brother Samuel Salazar, Sister Viola Flores.

Cremation was chosen and a Vigil Service with Recitation of the Rosary will be held Saturday, October 16, 2021 at 10:00 am and the Memorial Service will follow at 11:00 am at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.
