COLORADO SPRINGS — Monte Vista resident Regina Bernice Garcia, 42, passed away Aug. 12, 2019 in Colorado Springs with her loving family by her side. Regina was born July 17, 1977 in Alamosa, the daughter of Jose Guerrero Garcia and MaryAnn Atencio.

Regina was a terrific mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend who loved camping, cooking, cleaning, reading, gardening, the Broncos and most of all spending time with her loving family.

Survivors include her significant other Robert Garcia, Monte Vista; daughters Tiesha Maes and Enika Maes, and son Jonathon Maes all of San Luis; uncle and aunt who raised her Manuel (Anna) Trujillo of Del Norte; aunt Edulia Monge, Monte Vista; sister Hope Atencio, Monte Vista; and brother Juan Andres Atencio, Monte Vista. She is also survived by five grandsons; one special granddaughter that she was raising, many other aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. Regina was preceded in death by her parents Jose Guerrero and Mary Atencio; her grandparents Beronice Atencio and Max Velasquez.

A viewing will be Monday, Aug. 19 between 1 and 5 p.m. at Romero Chapel in Alamosa. A vigil service and recitation of the Rosary will be held Monday, Aug. 19, at 7 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Monte Vista.

A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 20, at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Monte Vista. Cremation was chosen and internment will be held at a later date.
