ALAMOSA — Alamosa resident Raymond E. Powell, 81, passed away on Dec. 20, 2019 in Colorado Springs.

He was born on Sept. 11, 1938, in Creede, to William and Charlotte (Clark) Powell.

In Raymond’s lifetime, he worked for Alamosa county as a heavy equipment operator, the Valley Courier and was the manager of Pepsi distribution for over 20 years.

He married Vangie Duran on Dec. 8. 1974 in Espanola, N.M.  Raymond enjoyed hunting, fishing and watching the Broncos.

Raymond is survived by his wife, Vangie Powell; his son, Mike (Dondi) Powell; his daughter, Marsha Powell; his grandkids, Justin Powell, Angela (Ken) Ulibarri and Gina (Brian) Powell; his great-grandchildren, Hope, Kenny, Lucas, Christopher, Jade and Leia; his sister, Rose Thompson; and brother, Ron (Carol) Powell; as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Mitchell R. Powell; his grandson, Mitchell Wright (Powell); and his sister Helen Weaver.

Cremation was selected and a private family memorial service was held.
