Rails & Ales rolls into Alamosa

ALAMOSA — The 11th Annual Rails & Ales festival churns into Alamosa this weekend bringing with it 43 craft breweries from across Colorado, and nearly 1000 thirsty festival goers.

The BrewFest takes place on Saturday, June 16, high in the Sangre de Christo mountains at the train stop known as Fir Station. Accessible only by rail, the festival provides ticket holders the opportunity to enjoy 100+ craft beers, a stunning train ride, BBQ and brauts, fabulous views, and live music on a boxcar stage at 9,500 feet.

The community is invited to join the celebration and welcome the best of Colorado’s craft breweries to Alamosa at the Rails & Ales Blockparty, Friday, June 15th. The block party runs 5 p.m.-12 midnight at the corner of San Juan Ave. and Main St., Alamosa, and is free to the community.

Headlining the block party at 8:30 p.m. is “Ryan Chrys and the Roughcuts”, Colorado’s premier Outlaw Country Band. Opening the festivities at 5:30 p.m. is local favorite, “LowKey”. Burgers, Bourbon, and a choice of 16 draft brews will be available outdoors. A limited number of tables and chairs will be set up for dining, but attendees are encouraged to bring their own lawn chair and set up early for the best seats.

Rails & Ales, and the Rails & Ales Blockparty are a partnership of the San Luis Valley Brewing Company and the Rio Grande Scenic Railroad. A portion of the proceeds from the events are used to host fundraisers for local non-profit agencies including The Food Bank Network of the San Luis Valley and Alamosa Volunteer Search & Rescue.
