Pueblo man dies in Monday crash

COSTILLA COUNTY — The Colorado State Patrol is investigating a two-vehicle crash on Highway 160 on La Veta Pass, which resulted in one fatality on Monday.

At approximately 10:30 a.m. on Monday, January 21, a silver 2004 Honda Element was westbound towards Alamosa on Highway 160 near milepost 277.4.  The Honda lost control in a right hand curve and rotated into the oncoming lane and collided with the front of an eastbound orange 2019 Peterbilt truck-tractor with its right side.

The Honda came to rest on the westbound shoulder and the Peterbilt semi came to rest off the eastbound side of the road.

The driver of the Honda, Blake Noonan, 47, of Pueblo, was pronounced dead on scene. The driver of the Peterbilt semi sustained no injuries.

Excessive speed for the conditions is considered the primary factor in this crash, which is still under investigation, according to the Colorado State Patrol.
