ALAMOSA– A possible electrical short in a ceiling fan is the suspected cause of a house fire just after 7 a.m. Thursday in Deer Valley Meadows about eight miles east of here.

Homeowner Rick Madrill said the fan tripped a breaker several times and he could smell a possible electrical fire. The fire apparently raged through the attic of the home causing serious damage.

The Alamosa Fire Department responded about 7:15 and were still on scene at 8:30.
