Phillip M. Garcia, 71

Monte Vista resident Phillip M. Garcia, 71, passed away April 18, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family under Hospice Care. Phil was born on February 9, 1946 in Phoenix, Arizona, the beloved son of Manuel Garcia and Anita Mesquita Garcia. He served and was a veteran of the United States Army. After his completion of his duties in the service, Phil was united in marriage to Joyce Archuleta on April 25, 1987. The two shared a long and happy union until his passing. He was a member of the V.F.W. Phil was an exceptional husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend who enjoyed watching football, listening to music and working around the house. Phil’s greatest joy in life was the time he spent with his family and friends. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Survivors include his loving wife Joyce Garcia, daughters Andrea Garcia, Teresa (Armando) Espinoza, Christina Garcia, Rayetta Nillo, sons Phillip (Peggy) Garcia, Jr., Danny Garcia and Tommy Garcia, 9 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, cousins and friends.

Phil is preceded in death by his parents Manuel and Anita Garcia, two brothers Manual and Michael Garcia.

Cremation was chosen. A Vigil Service with Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Friday, April 21, 2017 at 7:00 PM at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Monte Vista. A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at 11:00 AM also at St. Joseph Catholic Church with full military honors. Inurnment will be held at a later date. The care of arrangements have been trusted to Romero Funeral Home of Monte Vista.
