Lifetime La Jara resident Petronilo Valdez, 73, passed away March 21, 2017 at his home. Petronilo was born on March 20, 1944 in La Jara, Colorado, the son of Antonio Valdez and Elaisa Maestas Valdez. Petronilo served and was a Veteran of the United States Army. He was a social, kind and caring man who enjoyed doing yard work, gardening, taking care of his animals. He was an avid Denver Broncos fan and his favorite thing to do was spend time with his family and friends.

Survivors include his sisters Dolores Trujillo, Viola Sandoval, Lela (Phil) Archuleta all of La Jara, CO; brothers Joe (Diane) Valdez of La Jara, CO. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Cremation was chosen. A Vigil Service with Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Monday, March 27, 2017 at 7:00 PM at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Capulin. A Memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at 10:00 AM also at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Inurnment will follow at the Capulin Cemetery with full military honors. The care of arrangements are in care of Romero Funeral Home of Antonito.
