Patricia “Patti” Skoglund (Fernandez) died peacefully after a long battle with cancer on September 17, 2022, in Durango, Colo., at the age of 67.

Patti is survived by her husband of 42 years, Dave Skoglund and her daughter, Stephanie Skoglund. She is also survived by sisters Shannon (James) McCumber, Casper, Wyo.; Leslie (Mark) Beatty, Phoenix, Ariz.; Blair (Sam) Fernandez-Haynie, Alamosa, Colo. She was preceded in death by her parents Don and Nancy Fernandez, Alamosa, Colo.; sister, Dawn Williams, Denver, Colo.; brother, Robert Fernandez, Granby, Colo.

Patti was born on August 31, 1955, in Seattle, Wash. to Don and Nancy Fernandez. She was the second of six children. She graduated from Adam State University with a bachelor of arts degree and then continued on to her master's in speech pathology. She married Dave Skoglund, the love of her life and best friend in August of 1980. They resided in Leadville, Colo., then resided in Idaho, and Durango, Colo., finally settling in Hesperus, Colo. Patti and Dave welcomed their daughter Stephanie on December 16, 1988.

Patti worked at BOCES where she strongly advocated for all children in this area. Her coworkers remember and admire her for her determination and dedication to her job.
