ALAMOSA — Patricia (Patrice) Jean Wise, age 72, passed away peacefully with her friend Birdie DeSalvo by her side on Tuesday, March 24, 2020.

Patrice was so proud of surviving cancer in 2017 and told the story many times of how if she could survive a Whipple procedure to remove the cancer, she could survive anything. Unfortunately, her cancer returned in late November of 2019, and although she fought hard, she succumbed to the effects of the metastasized colon cancer. 

Patrice will be dearly remembered by the community as being kind, generous, genuine and for having a flair for fashion. She could always be seen with a statement piece on and was known for pattern mixing! 

Patrice is survived by her four pets who she considered family. Kiwi, Flopsy, Harry and George will dearly miss her, but are happy in their new homes that she so thoughtfully arranged before her passing. 

Patrice is also survived by her three younger brothers and a niece. Both of her parents preceded her in death. 

Patrice leaves behind a legacy of generosity. She helped many, many people-in-need in the San Luis Valley where she resided for the past decade. She also donated to our local shelter (La Puente) and to our local animal shelters. 

Patrice will live on in all of our hearts and will be dearly missed. To honor her, and in lieu of flowers, please consider “paying it forward” to someone in need. 

Because of the recent restrictions due to COVID-19, we will be postponing her memorial service until it is deemed safe to gather together again. A notice will be placed in this newspaper with time and date.
