Pair suffer gunshot wounds Thursday

ALAMOSA– A local man and woman both sustained gunshot wounds in an incident around 9 p.m. Thursday, according to the Alamosa County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies with the ACSO and officers from the Alamosa Police Department were dispatched to the 6800 block of Femmer Lane east of Alamosa at 9:07 p.m. after a report of a shooting. While en route, deputies were advised of two gunshot victims.

When deputies arrived on scene, they discovered a male with a gunshot wound to the head and a woman with two gunshot wounds to her right leg. Deputies and officers rendered aid to the victims until EMS arrived. Both parties were transported to the San Luis Valley Regional Medical Center.

The male party with the gunshot wound to the head was airlifted out to another hospital. The female victim was awaiting air transportation but was delayed due to the storm on the Front Range.

The scene of the incident was secured, and Alamosa County Sheriff Sergeant Paul Gilleland completed a search warrant of the incident location.

APD, the Adams State police, and the Alamosa Fire Department assisted in the investigation and processing the crime scene with AFD providing on-scene lighting, according to an ACSO press release.

The identity of the victims is not being released at this time pending further investigation.

ACSO thanked the other agencies involved with assisting in the incident.
