Paint Recycling Events in SLV

Coloradoans in Alamosa, South Fork and Colorado City are invited to recycle unwanted house paint during one-day events, June 4 through 6.

PaintCare is the non-profit stewardship organization that runs paint recycling programs across Colorado and is hosting free paint recycling events in Southern Colorado to make it easier for individuals and businesses throughout the area to recycle their leftover, unwanted house paint.

Households and businesses can drop off their unwanted paint at one-day events being held in Alamosa on June 4, South Fork on June 5 and Colorado City on June 6.

The events are free and will be held rain or shine. The following products will be accepted at the events: house paint, stains, primers, sealers, and clear top coatings (varnish and shellac). Households may bring any amount of latex or oil-based paint to the events, but there are restrictions on oil-based paint for some businesses.

Ace Hardware of Alamosa, 157 Craft Dr., Alamosa on June 4, and South Fork Visitor Center, 28 Silver Thread Lane on June 5, both are between 1 and 5 p.m. and the Greenhorn Valley Ace, 6850 CO-165 in Colorado City on June 6 between noon and 4 p.m.

These events are a good opportunity to get rid of larger amounts of house paint that may have accumulated in storage over time.
