Online threat closes ASD

ALAMOSA — Alamosa School District officials and local law enforcement officers are currently investigating an online threat. 

All Alamosa School District and Ombudsman classes are canceled for Thursday, Jan. 16. 

Updates on any scheduled events and trips will be provided by the respective school and/or coach-sponsor.

At 8 p.m. on Wednesday, the Alamosa Police Department School Resource Officer received a Safe2Tell tip regarding a social media post about a potential threat at the Alamosa High School. 

The Alamosa Police Department through investigation learned the identity of the suspect, who is a juvenile male and has since placed the suspect in custody.

At this time, the Alamosa Police Department encourages all students, faculty and community members to report all potential threats immediately through safe2tellco.org 1-877-542-7233.

The District appreciates everyone’s cooperation in keeping all students and staff safe.

An update on whether school will be open on Friday, Jan. 17 will be sent by the end of Thursday.
