A fire of unknown origin destroyed a currently unoccupied recreational vehicle (RV) at about 5 a.m. Thursday.

Alamosa firefighters were on scene at 6140 Malouff Rd. (County Rd. 6.5), for nearly two hours according to Alamosa Fire Department Captain Zach Cerny. The older model RV was fully involved in flame when AFD arrived with three trucks and a dozen firefighters.

While the cause of the fire is still under investigation, Cerny said electricity was not connected to the unit and it was undetermined whether propane was connected due to the destruction of the RV.

Cerny said someone had apparently been living in the RV at some point, but it was unoccupied at the time of the blaze.
