CRESTONE – The North Crestone Campground will be temporarily closed from Tuesday, June 12 through Friday, June 15 to install bear resistant lockers. These free storage lockers will allow campers to store their food and other bear attractants in a safe compartment. Each campsite at the campground will have its own locker.

“We regret the temporary disruption with the availability of the popular North Crestone Campground,” said Saguache District Ranger Tristram Post. “Ultimately the food lockers will improve the camping experience by providing for safe, convenient storage of food.”

The bear lockers purchase and installation contract is funded through Title II of the Secure Rural Schools Act.
