Nonprofit collaboration summit scheduled

ALAMOSA – San Luis Valley nonprofits are invited to attend the 2nd Annual SLV Nonprofit Collaboration Summit from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 12 at River of Life Church in Alamosa. This one-day event is an opportunity for nonprofit staff, volunteers and board members to network, share and collaborate.

As one participant stated about last year’s summit, “The most valuable part of this event is getting a broader picture of SLV nonprofits and having the opportunity to connect and discuss, and meeting people face to face.”

As a result of the San Luis Valley Rural Philanthropy Days event held in Creede in September 2015, a coalition of Valley nonprofit leaders began planning an annual Nonprofit Collaboration Summit. Last year, 121 attendees representing more than 70 nonprofits connected with others across the Valley.

At this year’s event, attendees will have the chance to engage in purposeful networking and discover innovative ways to share resources. Participants will engage in facilitated discussions addressing the most pressing challenges facing the Valley.

Attendees will be going through a challenge mapping process in small groups of 10-15 led by an experienced facilitator. The challenge mapping process is a way for groups to address challenges in their communities and come up with creative ideas to solve them. The process will address topics such as collaboration, resource identification, technology and more. Each small group will not only develop solutions to the challenges listed above, they will also develop a roadmap of action steps to turn the best solution into a project. The roadmap will include specific action steps and identify those responsible for completing them as well as a project budget.

The cost of the event is $20, and includes lunch, door prizes, and lots of new friends.  To learn more and register for the 2017 SLV Nonprofit Collaboration Summit, visit http://crcamerica.org/slvcollaborationsummit2017 or call 719-588-5753 for further information.
