Antonito resident Nick Raymond Martinez, 55, went home to be with the Lord on January 8, 2022 peacefully at his home with his loving family by his side. Nick was born on April 4, 1966 in La Jara, Colorado, the son of Medardo I. Martinez and Nicolasa Gurule Martinez. Nick enjoyed going for cruises in the mountains, spending time with his family and playing with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife Debbie Martinez of Antonito, CO; daughters Samantha Martinez of Albuquerque, NM; stepdaughters Marie (Manuel) Romero of Denver, CO; Bernadette (Jason) Gomez of Antonito, CO; son Nicholas Martinez of Antonito, CO; stepsons  Anthony Espinoza, Abel Espinoza both of Antonito, CO; 8 grandchildren, sisters Elizabeth Abeyta of La Jara, CO; Kathy (Julian) Jiron of Denver, CO; Angie (Eugene) Anaya of Alamosa, CO; brothers Marty (Diana) Martinez, Virgil Martinez both of Denver, CO; Danny Martinez of La Jara, CO; David Martinez of Alamosa, CO. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Nick was preceded in death by his parents Medardo and Nicolasa Martinez.

Cremation was chosen and a Vigil Service with Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Thursday, January 13, 2022 at 6:00 p.m at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Conejos. A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, January 14, 2022 at 1:00 PM also at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Inurnment will be held at a later date at the Martinez Family Cemetery.
