N. Conejos accredited with distinction third year in a row

LA JARA — The Colorado Commissioner of Education has announced North Conejos School District RE-1J will be designated as a district Accredited with Distinction, according to Superintendent Curt Wilson.

This is an unprecedented three years running, Wilson said, noting, “This type of academic accolade is the result of good people who support the learning of their own children – and everyone else’s —and the result is finishing in the top 15 percent of all 178 school districts in Colorado for academic achievement and growth.”

He added, "Thank you, parents, for letting your kids test each year. If not the district is severely punished. And thank you for encouraging your children to do the best they can on assessments not once in a while, but all the time.”

Wilson said, "We are very proud of our kids. This is their award and they need to be commended. Certainly, credit is given to the finest group of teachers a community could ask for, since our assessment results are honest and all testing is done by the book.

“Appreciation is also extended to the members of our community who serve as additional proctors to verify just that.”

Superintendent Wilson concluded, “Congratulations to the North Conejos School District community and those that make excellence happen every day."
