MVPD makes five drug arrests

MONTE VISTA—The Monte Vista Police Department (MVPD) made five drug arrests in late February and early March. Stemming from a routine traffic stop, warrant for failure to appear, to an execution of a search warrant several people have been cited and arrested on drug related charges.

On Tuesday, Feb. 28, officers from the MVPD contacted a white utility passenger vehicle for a traffic violation. During the traffic stop officers discovered that Hannah Goldsberry, 22, South Fork and Matthew Martinez, 26, Alamosa, were both in possession of heroin, methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

Goldsberry and Martinez were both arrested. Charges are being filed through the district attorney’s office for unlawful possession of schedule controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

On Wednesday, March 1, the MVPD executed a search warrant on the 700 block of Jefferson Street. Two arrests were made at the address.

Reno Naranjo, 27, Monte Vista, was arrested for unlawful possession of controlled substance (Schedule II, III and IV), unlawful distribution of controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Marison Simmons, 23, Monte Vista, was arrested for unlawful possession of controlled substance (Schedule II, III and IV), unlawful distribution of controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Naranjo and Simmons were transported to the Rio Grande Sherriff’s Office (RGSO). Charges were requested trough the district attorney.

On Friday, March 3, the MVPD contacted Zoe Simmons, 21, Monte Vista, for a failure to appear warrant out of the Monte Vista Police Department.

Simmons was found to be in possession of schedule II controlled substance (heroin and methamphetamine) and drug paraphernalia. Simmons was arrested and transported to RGSO and released to their custody.

The Monte Vista Police Department requested that charges be filed through the district attorney for unlawful possession of schedule controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
