Museums host women veterans

ALAMOSA—On Sunday, March 19 the Women’s Veterans of the San Luis Valley, Fort Garland Museum and the San Luis Valley Museum will host a lunch to honor women who have served in military service past and present.

The oral history program of the Women’s Memorial Foundation will be discussed with the possibility of local involvement in the project. This project documents the experiences of women and tells their stories of service, sacrifice and achievement and serves as inspiration for others. Collecting the voices of American servicewomen is the first step in refining traditional military history.

Please join in an afternoon of fellowship and good food. The lunch will be held at the San Luis Museum, 401 Hunt Ave. in Alamosa. Doors open at 11 a.m., and lunch will be served at 11:30.  Reservations are required as seating is limited.

For more information or to RSVP for the lunch please call Jayne Salisbury at 719-849-5512, e-mail: [email protected] or Anita McDaniel at 719-379-3512, email: [email protected]
