Mt. Blanca Summer Music Conservatory sets faculty concert series

VALLEY — Faculty from the Mt. Blanca Summer Music Conservatory will be giving a concert at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 27th, in the Leon Memorial Recital Hall on the Adams State University campus. Faculty will also perform concerts at Colorado College in Crestone on Sunday, July 1st at 2 p.m. and at the Windsor Hotel in Del Norte on Monday, July 2nd at 7 p.m.  The Windsor Hotel concert is a fundraiser for the conservatory and can include dinner at the hotel prior to the concert.

The concert features a wide range of music from Bach to Beethoven.  Pieces to be performed include: 3 Songs on Poems by Robert Browning by Amy Beach, “Snow” by Felicity Wilcox, 1st movement of a Beethoven’s “Ghost” Piano Trio, a two-piano waltz by Rocherolle, “Hypnosis” by Ian Clarke, “Kembang Suling” Mvts. 1, 2 & 3 by Gareth Farr, Piano Sonata, 3rd movement by Kapustin, Dos Poemas de Juan Ramón Jiménez- 1. “Verde Verderol” & 2. “Pájaro del agua” by Joaquín Rodrigo, “Rain” by Simply Three, Prelude and Allemande from Bach’s 1st cello suite, and other pieces to be determined.

Dr. Matthew Valverde, voice, Alamosa

Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for seniors and students. Proceeds will go toward student scholarships for the conservatory and to bring young guest artists to the valley for the 8th annual Concert of Carols in December.
