Moses Garcia

CENTER — Center resident Moses Garcia Jr., 54, passed away January 6, 2021 at the Christy St. Vincent Medical Center in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Moses was born on July 23, 1966 in Del Norte, Colorado, the son of Moses Garcia Sr., and Trinnie Casados Atencio. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for many years. He was united in marriage to Debra Armijillo for 22 years. They had a long and loving union until his passing. Moses was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin and friend who enjoyed watching TV, going hunting, fishing, playing basketball, and he was an avid Denver Broncos fan. His greatest joy in life came from spending time with his wonderful family.

Survivors include his wife Debra Armijillo, daughter Cymonia Garcia of Cuba, NM; son Moses Garcia III of Lincoln, NB; sisters Ruth Padilla of Colorado Springs, CO; Mary Ann Savala, Carla Quintana both of Center, CO; Rose Atencio of Monte Vista, CO; brother George Bencomo (Felicia Garcia) of Center, CO. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Moses was preceded in death by his parents Moses Garcia and Trinnie Casados Atencio, infant sister, brothers Lawrence Atencio, Frank Atencio, Simon Atencio, James Garcia.

A Vigil Service with Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at 5:00 PM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Thursday, January 14, 2021 at 11:00 AM also at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment will follow at the La Garita Cemetery.
