Mosca man dies in rollover crash

ALAMOSA COUNTY — Mosca resident Dylan Vittoria, 24, died late Wednesday night in a single vehicle rollover crash that had occurred on Colorado 150 in Alamosa County.

A passenger in the vehicle, Theodoric Ammerman, 32 of Mosca, was transported to the San Luis Valley Regional Medical Center with serious injuries.

The Colorado State Patrol (CSP) responded to the rollover crash at 11:34 p.m. on April 18. The crash occurred south of the Great Sand Dunes entrance.

According to the CSP investigation, Vittoria was driving a 2005 Jeep Liberty in a northerly direction when it drifted off the left side of the roadway. The vehicle hit a delineator post. The driver then steered the vehicle to the right, back onto the roadway, causing the vehicle to rotate in a clockwise direction. The driver then steered to the left in an effort to gain control of the vehicle, causing the vehicle to rotate in a counter-clockwise direction, on the roadway, before rolling three times while going off the left side of the roadway.

Vittoria succumbed to injuries sustained during the crash.

Alcohol, speed, and drug use are being investigated as potential contributing factors. Seatbelts were used by both the driver and passenger. The crash remains under investigation.
