ALAMOSA — On a journey that started back in August, Alamosa Volleyball has maneuvered through the regular season with the precision of a safe cracker. For the 23rd time in a row Alamosa earned a win, this win however completed the regular season giving the Moose a perfect record. The Mean Moose earned a pronounced 3-0 win over Monte Vista (1-17).

Thursday night a ‘by the numbers’ first set wrapped with a 25-14 score, giving Alamosa a 1-0 advantage. The second set went similarly smooth for the home team. Starting with an early 8-4 advantage, Alamosa rattled off 11 straight points with their next serve to put themselves in position to finish things off. The final kill in the second set came from junior Taylor Motz.

Monte Vista struck back in the third set. After falling behind 3-2 the Pirates put together a 4-point rally before Alamosa’s Emily DePriest put an end to it with a block. Getting a side-out and adding two more points gave Monte Vista an 8-4 lead. The lead would not last however as the Moose would string together 8 straight with their next at-serve.

From there Alamosa would pace the visiting Pirates all the way to a 19-5 score where a 6 point run capped by a kill from DePriest would finalize the match at three sets in Alamosa’s favor.

With the win Alamosa can officially begin to look forward to hosting a regional triangular. Before the win hits the books Alamosa holds the No. 3 spot in the CHSAA RPI rankings.

Now the Moose can focus on practice and honing their game while they sit back and wait on the seeding meeting on Oct. 29 to discover who will be making the trip to Alamosa. Monte Vista will continue on with a home match against Dolores (11-3) on Oct. 27.
