Montgomery painting in Plein Air Artists of Colorado National Show

BOULDER — Alamosa artist David Montgomery will be exhibiting in the Plein Air Artists of Colorado 21st Annual National Show opening at Mary Williams Fine Art in Boulder Colorado, Friday, September 8 from 5-8 p.m. Montgomery’s oil painting “Monolith” will be one of 190 artworks in the nationally juried show which will be on display until October 7.

Plein Air Artists of Colorado (PAAC) is an organization comprised of and promoting the art of painting on location with over 300 members nationwide. Montgomery has been a member of the group for 10 years and often participates in group paint outs promoted by the group as well as painting with other local PAAC members such as Susan McCullough, Coni Grant and Peggy Immel.

“PAAC folks are some of the most talented landscape painters to be found anywhere and I am thrilled to be included in this exhibition,” Montgomery shared.

Montgomery has been in the artistic presence in the San Luis Valley for decades and maintains a studio in downtown Alamosa. He is a graduate of Alamosa High School, received a BFA at Colorado State University and continues post- graduate work at Adams State University. Montgomery, along with Stephen Crawford, established the first gallery in Alamosa in 1976.
