ALAMOSA —  Twenty-three year old Shawnae Quintana, 23, of Romeo was killed Monday after her vehicle collided with a tractor-trailer on U.S. 285 near Alamosa County Road 9S (Airport Road) at 1:25 p.m.

October 12th, 2020, Quintana was northbound, toward Alamosa, on Highway 285 near ACR 9S.  A red 2004 Kenworth Truck Tractor pulling a flatbed trailer was southbound on Highway 285.  Quintana’s Ford crossed into the southbound lane.  The Kenworth swerved into the southbound right turn lane and the Ford collided with the left side of the trailer and the left front axle of the trailer.  The Ford came to rest in the southbound lane.  The Kenworth came to a controlled stop in the right turn lane for ACR 9S.

The driver of the Ford, Shawnae Quintana, 23, of Romeo, CO, was pronounced dead on scene.  The driver and passenger of the Kenworth semi-truck sustained no injuries.

The crash is still under investigation by the Colorado State Patrol Vehicular Crimes Unit.
