Mildred Mondragon

ALAMOSA — Longtime Alamosa resident Mildred Mondragon, 72, passed away May 27, 2019, peacefully in her home surrounded by her family.

Mildred was born March 24, 1947, in Alamosa, to Pete and Catherine Garcia of Alamosa. She married Alex Mondragon Sr. August 24, 1968, and was blessed with three beautiful children.

Mildred was a loving mother, wife, grandmother, mentor and friend. She worked for 30 years at Adams State University Mildred mentored hundreds of student-athletes during her time at Adams State as a work-study supervisor. She also went the extra mile those years by building strong relationships. She enjoyed cooking for others and loved spending time with her family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents Pete and Catherine Garcia, her husband Alex Mondragon Sr, her daughter Kanda Toogood.

She is survived by her sons Alex (Jenna) Mondragon of Alamosa, Rodney (Michelle)Mondragon of Colleyville, Texas, Grandkids Kyle (Rita) Toogood of Colorado Springs, Jadyn Toogood of Colorado Springs, Eric Mondragon of Colorado Springs, Leah Mondragon Stiles (HD) of Davis, Okla., Kanda Mondragon Ada Okla., and Ty Mondragon of Bedford, Texas, along with numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members and many friends she considered family.

Cremation has been chosen and a Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held June 21 at 7 p.m. at Sacred Heart Church. A Funeral Mass will be held June 22 at 9:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church.
