Miguel Kimo Chaparro

With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Miguel Kimo Chaparro, Alamosa, Colo., who passed away on May 26, 2021, at the age of 48. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on his memorial page and share them with the family.

Miguel was born in Quincy, Mass. to Pauline and Eduardo Chaparro on December 2, 1972. He married Juliana Chaparro in 1999 in New York City. He graduated from Adams State University in 2009 and worked in Student Services, first at Adams State University and then at Trinidad State College in Alamosa, Colo.  Miguel was a devoted husband and always dedicated to helping others.  He displayed a wonderful knack for planning and solving problems. Miguel truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures; chatting with friends and family, snacking, helping others, volunteering, and traveling. Miguel had a very special ability to reach out and connect with people in a deep and positive way.   

He is survived by his parents, Eduardo and Pauline. Juliana his wife; his brother Sean, sister-in-law Andrea, nieces Emma, Alicia and Madison and his mother-in-law Elvira, and of course his beloved cats Katsi, PTQ, and Grafeeto.

Family, friends and others whose lives Miguel touched are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial that will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 715 4th Street, Alamosa, CO 81101. The Mass will also be live-streamed on the Church’s website at sacredheartalamosa.org.
