Antonito resident Miguel Antonio Barela, 29, passed away November 5, 2017. Miguel was born on September 12, 1988 in Alamosa, Colorado, the son of Roberto (Kiko) Francisco Barela and Brenda Myra Ruybal. Miguel was known for his friendly personality, his love for cooking and love of his children. He enjoyed going fishing, camping and spending time with his family. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife Dora Candelaria, son Issac Candelaria-Barela, daughter Brenda Candelaria-Barela, his father Roberto Francisco Barela all of Antonito, CO; sister Myra (Manuel) Duran of Pueblo, CO; sister Nichole Abeyta of Alamosa, CO; his paternal grandmother Dorothy Barela, of La Jara, CO and his godparents Jim and Ellen Medina of Andrews, TX.  He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Miguel was preceded in death by his mother Brenda Myra Ruybal, paternal grandfather Mario Barela, aunt Angelica (Aunty Gel) Barela, maternal grandparents Frieda and Ray Ruybal.

Cremation was chosen. A Rosary will be held at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Conejos, CO with a memorial service to follow at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 25, 2017.
