Matthew E. DuPont, 31

ALAMOSA — Alamosa resident Matthew Eugene DuPont was called home to eternal rest on March 5, following an on-going battle with epilepsy, and went peacefully in his sleep.  
Matthew was born on August 27, 1988 in Albuquerque, the son of Eugene and Grace DuPont. Matthew graduated from Manzano High School in Albuquerque and attended New Mexico Highlands University where he was a member of the Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity.
Matthew was a much-loved son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend who enjoyed music, nature, photography, fishing, camping and attending car shows.  Matthew was in the process of building a house and was preparing to move in shortly. He was previously employed by various car dealerships in Albuquerque.  He worked at The Oasis at The Sand Dunes in the summer, a job he thoroughly enjoyed, and most recently was employed by SLV BOCES and Blue Peaks Developmental Services.  
He is survived by his mother, Grace Sandoval DuPont of Albuquerque; father, Eugene DuPont of Antonito; sisters, Celeste DuPont (Kaleb Sims) and Kristen DuPont of Albuquerque; niece and nephew Jianna and Treyson Sims of Albuquerque, whom he dearly loved; special Aunt Emily Sandoval of Alamosa; and maternal grandmother, Lucille DuPont of Alamosa. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and fraternity brothers.  
Matthew was preceded in death by brother, Nicholas DuPont; maternal grandparents, John and Estella Sandoval; and paternal grandfather, Leo DuPont.
A vigil service with Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Wednesday, March 11, at 7 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Conejos. A Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, March 12, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church,, with final internment at the Ortiz Cemetery.
