Saguache resident Mary Margaret Pacheco, 62, was called home by her heavenly Father on September 21, 2021, after her long battle with cancer. Born on November 3, 1958 in Monte Vista, Colorado, the beloved daughter of Alfonso Pacheco and Simonita “Sadie” Ortega Pacheco. Mary was very active in the Saguache community. She was a cook for the Saguache Sheriff’s Office for 20 years. She was always ready to help her community on the Fire Auxiliary and her church. When she wasn’t volunteering her time helping the community, she enjoyed crocheting, embroidering and traveling. God was always first in her life and she was very devoted to her faith. Mary’s family was the most important thing to her, she loved and cherished the time she spend with them and she will be dearly missed.

She is survived by her son Jerris Dwayne (Rebecca) Pacheco of Saguache, granddaughter Hayden Pacheco, sisters Irene (Tony) Hansen of Saguache, CO; Patricia (Robert) Campbell of Oklahoma City, OK; Verniece Swaney of Mesa, AZ; Christine Pacheco of Saguache, CO; brothers Steve (Marilyn) Pacheco of Saguache, CO; Donald Pacheco of Canon City, CO; many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and all of her law enforcement family at Saguache County Sheriff’s Office, Saguache Fire Department and Saguache EMS family.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents Alfonso and Sadie Pacheco, sisters Betty Hazard and Frances Kirk.

Cremation was chosen and a Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 16, 2021 at 10:00 AM at the Saguache Community Center. Inurnment will be held at the Hillside Cemetery.
