Mary JoDene Newmyer

Mary JoDene Newmyer 74, went to be with our Lord on July 2, 2021, at her home in Hooper, CO.  She was born November 3, 1946, in Gunnison, CO to Jesse and Edna (Russell) Brandt. She went to Canon City High School and was a graduate of the Class of 1965. As a young woman, JoDene worked as a waitress at night to put herself through Beauty School during the day. She went on to be a hairdresser for 25 years and in that time owned her own Beauty Salon. She decided to retire, but not one to be idle for long she moved to Hooper, where she opened a combination convenience store and restaurant with her sister Pat, “My Sister’s Place” and once again had a very successful business.  She is preceded in death by her parents, Jesse Dale Brandt and Edna Marie McBeth; brother, Steven Brandt and sister Toy Jean Trentzsch.  She is survived by her husband, H. Ray Newmyer; daughters LeAnn Marie Ledbetter and Denice Maiden (Calvin Robinson). Grandson, Ryan Brown and granddaughters, Devon Fazzino and Carson Maiden.  Sisters Patricia Stoops, Dale Darlene Brandt, Rita (Leroy) Curry; and brother, Russell (Maria) Brandt;  four great-grandchildren and  numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 12, 2021, at Lakeside Cemetery in Canon City, CO and a Memorial Service in Hooper, CO, Saturday, July 17, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. at the Baptist Church. To all who knew her, she was a caring and giving person who touched so many lives.
