Martinez, Goodwin appointed to SLV Federal Bank’s Board of Directors

San Luis Valley Federal Bank recently announced the appointment of Joe Martinez and Greg Goodwin to the bank's Board of Directors.

"The Board of Directors are pleased to appoint these two fine individuals to serve on our director team. They bring unique expertise and knowledge to the Board, and will give valuable input at our Board Meetings," said Bank Board Chairman Karla Shriver.

Bank CEO Mark Bechaver said, "It's an honor to have Joe and Greg join the Bank's Board. They are both high integrity people that will help us maintain strategic leadership, community engagement, and a continued thorough understanding of the financial needs of the San Luis Valley." 

Martinez worked as a Mortgage-Consumer Loan Officer for San Luis Valley Federal Bank from 1999 until April 2006. He was employed as a Vice President at Alamosa State Bank until returning to San Luis Valley Federal Bank in 2019. Since 2019, Martinez has served as the Bank's Chief Lending Officer and, most recently, the Bank's President-Chief Lending Officer.

Martinez is a lifelong resident of the San Luis Valley. He graduated from Sanford High School and received his bachelor's in finance and economics with minors in accounting and Spanish from Adams State University. He obtained his master’s in public/private administration in 2014.

Martinez presently serves as the Adams State University Foundation Vice President, the Chair of the Alamosa County Land Use Committee, A Director of the Independent Community Bankers of Colorado (ICBC), and a member of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City Community Depository Advisory Council (CDIAC). Prior community involvement includes Chair of the San Luis Valley Asset Management Corp., Vice Chair of the San Luis Valley Behavioral Health Group, President of the Adams State Grizzly Club, Vice President of the Adams State University Alumni Association, Center for Restorative Programs Board of Directors, Board Member of the Boys and Girls Club of the San Luis Valley, Chair of the 12th Judicial District Judicial Performance Commission, and a member of the State Commission on Judicial Performance appointed by Governor John Hickenlooper.

Martinez and his wife Amanda reside in Alamosa.

Goodwin was born and raised in Colorado and has lived in the San Luis Valley for four decades. He brings experience, community insight, and a proven track record of success. He graduated from Adams State University, earning a degree in mathematics. Previously, he was a high school math teacher before embarking on a successful career in real estate. He has served as President, Vice President, Board Member, CREN Director, and the Colorado Association of Realtors Director for the San Luis Valley Board of Realtors. Goodwin was given the title of SLV Realtor of the Year in 2012.

Goodwin and his wife Jeni are proud parents of two children and three granddaughters. Their commitment to family values is reflected in their active community involvement and shared love for the San Luis Valley.
