Martha Roybal, 79

Alamosa resident Martha Mary Ruybal, 79, passed away December 14, 2017 with her loving family by her side. Martha was born on December 13, 1938 in Alamosa, Colorado, the daughter of Lee Joe Garcia and Mary Rose Martinez Garcia. She was united in marriage to the love of her life Leroy R. Ruybal on June 21, 1954 in Taos, New Mexico. She was a life member of the V.F.W. and the American Legion Women's Auxiliary. Martha was an exceptional and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend who enjoyed playing rummy, going gambling and listening to Mexican music. She was always so full of life and wisdom, her greatest joy in life came from the time she was able to spend with her grandchildren, family and friends. She never knew a stranger and was a friend to all.  

Survivors include her daughters Marlene (Isidro) Collazo of Arvada, CO; Debbie (Jeff) Ruybal-Bonadies of Alamosa, CO; Linda Ruybal of Aurora, CO; son Leroy A. (Dora) Ruybal of Centennial, CO; grandchildren Melissa (Moses) Gomez, Kayla (Kevin) Ruybal, Jeremy Ruybal, Mario Ruybal, Felicia Collazo, Estevan Collazo, Angela Ruybal, Michael Duran, great-grandchildren Janaya Ruybal, Orlando Casebolt Ruybal, Isabella Ruybal Turner, Moses Gomez Jr., Nayeli Gomez, special friends the Veniegas Family, Virginia Naranjo, Cecilia Herrera, Max and Mary Salazar, Lorraine Martinez, Cecilia Marquez and Nora Duran. She is also survived by many cousins and friends.

Martha was preceded in death by her parents Lee J. Garcia and Mary Rose Martinez, husband Leroy "Goofy" Ruybal, brothers Freddie Garcia and Mike Maestas.

A Vigil Service with Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Thursday, December 21, 2017 at 7:00 PM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Friday, December 22, 2017 at 10:00 AM also at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment will follow at the Alamosa Cemetery. Viewing and visitation will be held on Thursday from 1-5 PM at the Romero Funeral Chapel in Alamosa. The care of arrangements have been entrusted to Romero Funeral Home of Alamosa.
