Mariachi San Luis - friends and musicians from San Luis and the surrounding communities - has been in the pursuit of Mariachi music since its inception in 1998. Mariachi San Luis is smaller now but our greatest achievement was the instruction and exposure to the Mariachi
culture to more than 200 students that spanned a 20-year period. Many of our former members are still playing and enjoying at a professional level in Colorado and beyond. In 2015, Su Teatro Cultural and Performing Arts Center from Denver, Colorado inducted
Mariachi San Luis into Chicano Music Hall of Fame and recognizing their dedication and hard work toward the preservation and performance of Mariachi music. Su Teatro Cultural and Performing Arts Center has established a national reputation for homegrown productions
that speak to the history and experience of Chicanos. Since its inception in 1998, the mission of Mariachi San Luis has been to perform, promote, appreciate and preserve Mariachi music in a wholesome community atmosphere free of alcohol, tobacco and illicit
drugs. Mariachi San Luis has proudly and positively promoted San Luis and the joyous sounds wherever they go.
New this summer: ALMA is partnering with RSVP (Retired & Senior Volunteer Program) of Alamosa County and the Food Bank Network of San Luis Valley by having a food
drive at each Sundays at Six concert
this summer, to benefit the Alamosa Food Pantry. All are invited to contribute a non-perishable item or two for this food drive. Look for the receptacles under the ALMA tent at each concert. Some ideas of much-needed items include: canned meat (tuna and chicken),
peanut butter & other nut butters, low-sodium canned veggies & beans, healthy snacks (low-sugar granola bars, dried fruit, etc.), gluten free items, healthy canned or boxed meals (chili, etc.), shelf-stable milk and milk alternatives. Help us address food
 insecurity in Alamosa County!
